After we enjoyed swimming the beauty of the Enchanting Charm of the Enchanted River our next destination is the famous waterfalls of Surigao del Sur, the Tinuy-an Falls. Tinuy-an Falls is located at Sitio Sote, Barangay Burboanan, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur in the Southern Island of Mindanao, Caraga Region. The travel time from Enchanted River of Hinatuan to Tinuy-an falls of Bislig City is approximately around 1 hour and 30 minutes. In our case, we travel with a private vehicle that’s why we have this travel time.
From the highway going to Tinuy-an falls its around 15 kilometers and approximately 20-25 minutes travel due to bumpy road slopes gently uphill same as Enchanted River of Hinatuan. Same as other tourist destination, tinuy-an falls has an entrance fee of 50 pesos for adults while children below 7 are free and the parking fee is 20 pesos for 4 wheels while 10 pesos for motorcycle/Tricycle. You can rent cottages and tables in this tourist destination with a cheap amount from 100 to 1000 pesos. You can also spend overnight at Tinuy-an falls, they have dorm-type room good for 10 for only 1800 pesos with air condition. There are stores nearby where you can buy your foods and drinks.
Bislig, considered as the easternmost city of the Philippines in terms of geographical location, is the gateway to the Tinuy-an Falls which is dubbed as “Niagara Falls of the Philippines” and one of the widest in the country. It has a 3 tiered falls with a total height of 55 meters and a bathing width area of 95 meters. Others features are the presence of 3 islets at the swimming ground, a cool atmosphere with presence of dipterocarp trees, ferns, orchids, and vine along the bank of the river; multi-layered riverbed of stones skillfully crafted by nature, and formation of rainbow rays from 9 am to 11 am.
Tips:
If you would to stay overnight in Tinuy-an falls be sure to bring your own food because its expensive to order food here or go out for dinner if you have vehicles to use.
