wwweeewww….I do know where to start in this post but I already start it..aehehehe..
Supposed to be this post will be made after our falls hopping at Iligan but sad to say I’m so tired and I’m waiting also some pictures taken by our friends. In this travel I was only invited with my girlfriend together with her officemate, we are 12 in the group and we rent a van to maximize our expenses. On October 18, 2009 Sunday we leave Cagayan de Oro around 8 o’clock in the morning going to Iligan city and we arrived around 10 o’clock in the morning. Our first falls destination at Iligan is the “Maria Cristina Falls” and this falls is the famous of Iligan attraction and it is the Agus River on the Island of Mindanao. It is sometimes referred to as “twin falls” because the water is split in two by a large rock at the brink of the 320 feet drop. We spent an hour in this place to take pictures of the falls.
The next water falls we visit is the “Tinago Falls” which is located at the Southern part of the Philippine Island of Mindanao. This is one of the tourist attractions in Iligan City. Some trivia on this falls, Tinago is a Filipino term which means “Hidden”, the falls being hidden in a deep ravine. After we arrived this falls we need to pay 10 pesos for the entrance and 20 pesos for the life jacket. After fixed our things to bring we go down for the trekking of the falls descending which has 345 steps (I count on it while we go down..aeheheh..) and they called it winding staircase. The falls is high, its very cold waters cascading beautifully into a deep and calm basin-like pool which appears like a blue-colored lagoon. Under the falls is a small cave where people can enter and listen to the rumbling waters. We spend 2 hours in this place (bitin pa din..aeheh) because we need to move to our next destination the Maze Park and Resort.
Tinago Falls1The Maze Park is a pool area which has different level of the water pool and they have an Olympic sized of swimming pool, and it is also a perfect place for the nature lover who appreciates the beauty of solace. In this place they have a nice garden, mini zoo, a fishing area and a beautiful garden inside. This place is located at Mimbalot Buru-un, Iligan City.
There are many falls we need to explore Iligan City. So if you have time visit the City of the Majestic Waterfalls. Mimbalut falls, 20 minutes away from the city, Limunsudan Falls, 54 kilometers away from the city proper, Abaga Waterfalls, 15 kilometers from the city, Dalipuga Falls, 12 kilometers from the city, Dodiongan Falls, 14.5 kilometers from the city, Gata falls 28 kilometers from the city, Guimbalolan Falls, 29 kilometers rom the city, Hindang Falls, 14 kilometers from the city, Kalisaon Falls, 16 kilometers fron the city, kamadahan falls, 26 kilometers from the city and Kibalaug falls, 31 kilometers from the city.
i have a term paper about the top ten tourist spot in Ilgan City, and i dont have exact information about the ff: Hindang fall and caves, mimbalot falls,Iligan city hall, and Macapagal ancestral house..Can you give me some information on this because i need it in my thesis..thank you very much…
Hi @ruth first thing first I would to say thank for vising Travels and Tours and ask some questions regarding Iligan City. I’m not from Iligan but since you are asking my help then I will help you.. I hope the info that I’m posting here can help to your thesis…This is your CDO GUIDE from Cagayan de Oro.:-)
Hindang fall and caves – a 40 ft. high two-tiered waterfalls with a lagoon ideal for swimming. Located at hinterland Barangay Hindang, approximately 20 kilometers from the city. Other attractions of the Barangay are the 6-8 cave clusters. Most caves have narrow entrance with long and deep chambers.
mimbalot falls – an 11 km drive from the center of the city, located at Barangay Buru-un, Iligan City. It is approximately 90 ft. and 18 ft. wide. A breathtaking place to commune with nature, and take a dip in the cool fresh water pools around the area.
An untapped paradise waiting to be discovered or rediscovered for the balikbayans! We were lucky enough that no one was washing their clothes when we were there. Best time to go is morning to 4pm.. before the locals come in with tuba or gin to drink at the side of the falls..
Iligan city hall – nestled a top of Buhanginan Hill (130 feet above sea level). Built in 1956. It is also a favorite promontory of Iliganons for viewing the sunset or skyline of the city by night.
Macapagal ancestral house – The house boasts as the only house in Mindanao where two Philippine Presidents resided. One being the father, and the other, the daughter, Pres. Diosdado Macapagal and HE Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo respectively. In 1994, upon the instigation of the late former President Diosdado Macapagal, the lot where the house stands and a two-hectare cocoland nearby were donated to the City Government of Iligan for the purpose of developing the place into a tourist destination with a memorabilia of the Macaraeg-Macapagal Family.
Thanks
