Amazing Getaway Experience at Club Paradise Palawan – Discovery Coron Day 1

Our recent stay at Discovery Coron, previously known as Club Paradise Palawan, was an enjoyable experience that combined relaxation with adventure. Located on the private island of Dimakya in Northern Palawan, this spot offers stunning views and clean beaches, making it a great place to unwind. Surrounded by the island’s natural beauty, we had a calm yet exciting time during our two-night, three-day visit. The resort offers a blend of comfort and adventure, making it a great getaway. The island is part of a UNESCO-protected marine area, known for its diverse wildlife and well-preserved environment.

The waters around the island are part of the Coron Marine Biodiversity Area, known for its lively coral reefs and varied marine life. Guests at Discovery Coron can explore these underwater habitats, which are home to many species of fish, sea turtles, and other marine animals. The island also serves as a sanctuary for local wildlife, including the Palawan hornbill, monitor lizards, and endangered sea turtles that nest on its beaches.

Arrival and Warm Welcome

Our trip to Discovery Coron started with a short flight to Busuanga from Cebu City, followed by a 30- to 45-minute boat ride to the resort’s shores. The trip itself was enjoyable, with beautiful views of clear waters and green landscapes. When we arrived, the friendly staff welcomed us with refreshing drinks, a cool face towel, and warm smiles that made us feel at home. The island’s wildlife, like monitor lizards, wild birds, and fruit bats, also added to the welcoming atmosphere. After checking in, we received a complimentary foot spa massage in our villa and enjoyed a selection of free snacks.

Comfortable Accommodation

We stayed in spacious sunset villas designed to reflect the island’s calm atmosphere. Each villa had modern amenities, including comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a private veranda with stunning ocean views.

First-Day Adventures

Eager to start our first day, we quickly changed into swimwear and headed to the island’s beach for snorkeling. We asked for a guide to help us explore the underwater world of Discovery Coron. To our surprise, we spotted a dugong and its baby right at the shore—a rare sight, as guests usually pay 5,000 Php per person to visit other islands just to see this creature. The guide mentioned that the dugong is not native to the area, making our encounter even more special. The guide service was free, and we gave a tip afterward to show our appreciation for the amazing experience.

After exploring the clear waters and seeing the colorful coral reefs, we swam alongside schools of tropical fish. It was an unforgettable experience. Following our morning adventures, we enjoyed a complimentary buffet breakfast, served from 6 AM to 9 AM.

After a day filled with sea adventures, we relaxed in the resort’s infinity pool, soaking in the peaceful surroundings. The pool, with its wide views of the ocean, was the perfect place to unwind after a day of activity.

Evening Relaxation

As the sun set, the island became even more peaceful, with the sound of waves creating a calming atmosphere. After dinner, we took a walk around the island, enjoying the beauty of the night.

Discovery Coron offers many activities for its guests, including island-hopping tours that allow you to visit nearby islets, each with its unique beauty. This resort, formerly known as Club Paradise Palawan, truly lives up to its name as a place of discovery and adventure, offering a special experience in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

Wildlife Animals

On Dimakya Island, where Discovery Coron is located, a variety of wildlife animals can be found, both on land and in the surrounding marine areas. Some of the notable wildlife includes:

  1. Monitor Lizards: Large reptiles commonly found on the island, often basking in the sun or foraging for food. They play a crucial role in the ecosystem.
  2. Sea Turtles: The island’s beaches are vital nesting grounds for endangered sea turtles like the Green Sea Turtle and Hawksbill Turtle. At specific times of the year, these turtles come ashore to lay eggs, highlighting the importance of conservation efforts.
  3. Fruit Bats: Known as flying foxes, these large bats are commonly seen at dusk when they become active. They play an essential role in pollinating plants and dispersing seeds.
  4. Various Bird Species: Besides the Palawan Hornbill, the island hosts other birds like kingfishers, egrets, and various tropical species, adding to the island’s vibrant soundscape.
  5. Marine Life: Surrounding waters host diverse marine species, including colorful coral reefs, various fish, starfish, sea urchins, and the occasional dugong.
  6. Dugong Watching: The dugong-watching tour takes guests along Busuanga’s coast to see these gentle sea cows in their natural habitat. They are often seen munching on sea grass near Club Paradise Palawan house reef.

These wildlife species are both terrestrial and marine. They are integral to the island’s ecosystem, with the resort’s conservation efforts ensuring their protection.
