Cagayan de Oro, a vibrant and rapidly growing city in Northern Mindanao, is attracting investors and entrepreneurs at an unprecedented rate. With established malls like SM, Gaisano, and Limketkai, and a surge in hotel and condominium construction, the city’s development is palpable. Among the notable upcoming projects is the construction of the tallest hotel in Cagayan de Oro, a testament to the city’s thriving economy. Simultaneously, a group of young and talented individuals from the city has coalesced to form the CDO Bloggers, aiming to gain recognition from the local government.
In the digital age, blogging has become an influential medium for self-expression and information sharing. This trend has taken root in Mindanao, where various blogger communities have emerged. Davao boasts the Davao Bloggers Community, while General Santos has its own blogger community. Cagayan de Oro is the latest addition to this burgeoning blogging landscape in Mindanao. These communities actively promote and disseminate information not only within their regions but also to the entire nation. Notably, the 1st Mindanao Blog Summit took place in Davao in 2007, followed by the 2nd Mindanao Blog Summit in General Santos the following year.
Recognizing Each Other
Recognizing the need for a bloggers’ group in Cagayan de Oro, the CDO Bloggers community was founded by ChiQ Montes, a WordPress designer, with the collaboration of enthusiastic bloggers like us. ChiQ’s initiative led to the formation of the CDO Bloggers community, a milestone that we, as bloggers, are proud to be a part of. Recently, ChiQ launched the CDOBLOGGERS website, receiving an overwhelming response from local bloggers. Within a day, more than 50 bloggers registered on the site, indicating the active and thriving blogger community in Cagayan de Oro.
The inaugural meetup of CDO Bloggers was a resounding success, filled with camaraderie and memorable moments. On the evening of November 7, 2008, at Mindy’s, a quarter of the website’s members convened, including active bloggers from CDO. During this initial gathering, we introduced ourselves and the blogs we maintained. The subsequent meetup, scheduled for the following week, aimed to delve into the group’s goals and objectives, facilitating the organization’s development. We anticipate that 70-90% of registered bloggers will participate in this second meetup, setting a promising precedent for CDO Bloggers.
With the CDO Bloggers community in full swing, we extend a friendly challenge to our counterparts in Davao, General Santos, and Zamboanga, as Cagayan de Oro’s blogging enthusiasts are now online and eager to engage. Together, we will continue to foster a dynamic and connected blogging community in Mindanao. CDO: The Rising Hub of Bloggers in Mindanao is now Online.

That’s fantastic. I love it when bloggers get together like that. I’ve met some bloggers earlier and am planning to meet them again plus another blogger – in France next year. That will be so much fun.

it’s really good to know that more and more bloggers meet to further inspire one another and others who are just planning to start a blog.
meetings like this also helps build up support on how you can promote a common subject to the many.
