Our Surigao Del Sur travel is really awesome, it’s a dream come true for me. Surigao Del Sur is number 5 on the list that I would like to visit and this year it was granted. Together with my wife and her colleague in the office we visited and explore Surigao Del Sur for 2 nights and 3 days, Surigao Del Sur has 7-8 hours travel time from Cagayan de Oro. Our first stop when we arrived in the Enchanted River which has crystal clear deep blue water and on the second day our destination is the Tinuy-an Falls.
Our destination on the third and last day in Surigao Del Sur is the Britania Group of Island, this is not in Britain but this is only in the Philippines in the Island of Surigao Del Sur but it is an ancient term for Roman Britain. Britania is located at Barangay Britania of San Agustine Surigao Del Sur which is 2 hours away from Tinuy-an falls. This place is one of the best tourist spots in Mindanao.
Lianga Bay, which faces the Pacific Ocean, has 24 islands and islets scattered all over its crystal waters. This Group of Islands varies from shapes and sizes scattered magnificently in the open sea. Most of the islands are uninhabited, with minimal or no vegetation. We only visited 4 Island during the tour and each Island is blessed with powdery white sands which can be compared to that of the well-famed Boracay Island. It’s really amazing looking this Island from far because you will see the beauty of each Island.
The first Island that we is the Hagonoy Island, they called it Hagonoy Island it’s because the island was named after the weed that used to grow there. The Island has coconut trees growing there; these served as shade during our brief stay. I do know how to express the beauty of this Island; you will be get tempted to go swimming because of the clean, crystal, bluest water of the sea.
The second Island is the Naked Island which is around 10-12 minutes away from the Hagoynoy Island. You will know immediately why they called this Island Naked because there were no trees or huge boulders anywhere on its face. It was made up of only plain white sand floating on top of the water.
The third Island is the Boslon Island; this Island is the largest among the group. Signs of habitation graced the place, such as a cross and a statue of Virgin Mary standing to one side of the island. Boslon Island is surrounded by different rock formations on one side, on the other are powdery white sands stretching out to the bluish-green sea waters.
The final that is Hiyod-hiyoran Island, this Island is just beside Boslon Island. We already passed this Island because everybody is tired of swimming and of course we are all hungry and excited to eat our lunch at that time.
Britania is not just meant for beach fans but also for nature lovers like us. I was really amazed with what I saw in Britania, it’s really a nice experience that we had in this place. If you ask me if I would like to go back to this place, it’s a big YES..!!!
From highway going to the entrance of Britania is around 12 kilometers away, around 10-15 minutes travel time. The entrance fee is 30 pesos and you will pay for the Environment fee for 25 pesos.
